Before serving as a judge, Rick had more than 25 years of experience practicing law in business litigation, construction defects, personal injury, and creditors rights. During his 20 years spent on the bench, Rick gained experience and sharpened his skills, particularly during his assignments to the Complex Business Litigation and General Civil Divisions. Complex Business Litigation

Rick has extensive experience in handling complex business cases. He understands and has worked through sorting out elaborate issues and interests in these cases. This includes matters such as complicated business deals, contract disputes, business ownership, business management and governance, loans (lending and borrowing), corporations, joint ventures, and partnerships.

Rick’s experience will assist you in resolving your most difficult controversy.

Construction Defects

Rick understands the thorny problems when a construction project does not proceed as planned or the building does not perform up to expectations. Rick grasps and has dealt with the competing interests brought to the table by the owner, the architect, the general contractor, subcontractors, and the trades. He has represented owners and contractors in such disputes and has other first-hand involvement in sorting out elaborate claims of the various parties in construction cases.

RATES & CANCELLATION POLICY

Fee Schedule

Hourly Rate

  • $200 per hour/per side for Mediation or Arbitration

For half-day Mediations/Arbitrations, a minimum fee of 2 hours will be charged (1 hour in lieu of the Mediation/Arbitration Conference and 1 hour in lieu of preparation and reporting).

For full-day Mediations/Arbitrations, a minimum fee of 4 hours will be charged (3 hours in lieu of the Mediation/Arbitration Conference and 1 hour in lieu of preparation and reporting).

Cancellation Policy

If it becomes necessary to cancel the mediation, three (3) business days’ notice is required. If the mediation is not canceled at least 3 business days in advance, the cancellation fee is one hour per party for a half-day mediation, and two hours per party for a full-day mediation.
